Privacy & Terms
FeedFilters is a small free service. This page tells you what we collect, what we do with it, and the terms you're agreeing to by using the site. Plain language, no dark patterns.
What we collect
- Your email address — so you can sign in, recover access, and receive a small number of account-related messages (verification, password reset, change-of-email confirmations).
- A password hash — if you signed up with a password. We store an Argon2id hash, not the password itself.
- Passkeys — if you set them up. We store the public-key material your authenticator gives us; the secret never leaves your device.
- Your filtered feeds — the source URLs you've added, the filter rules you set, and a slug we generate for the public output URL.
- Operational logs — short-lived request logs (IP, path, status, latency) for debugging and abuse mitigation. Not aggregated, not sold, not shared.
What we don't do
- No third-party trackers, analytics scripts, or ads.
- We don't sell or rent any of your data.
- We don't profile you based on the contents of feeds you import. We fetch the source, run your filter, serve the result.
- We don't share data with third parties except as needed to deliver the service (e.g. our hosting provider necessarily handles encrypted traffic).
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your user record, feeds, sessions, and passkeys are removed. Cached feed bodies are evicted automatically as the cache fills.
Where it lives
FeedFilters is hosted on Linode in Fremont, CA.
Cookies
We set one session cookie when you log in and a CSRF cookie to protect form submissions. No third-party cookies, no tracking pixels.
Terms of use
FeedFilters is provided free of charge, as-is, without warranty of any kind. By using it you agree to a few common-sense things:
- Please stick to one account per person, and don't try to evade rate limits or otherwise abuse the service.
- Please only use FeedFilters to fetch feeds you're allowed to read, and respect the source's terms.
- Please don't republish or commercially redistribute filtered feeds in a way that violates the source's license.
- We may suspend or remove accounts that abuse the service, in our reasonable judgement.
- We may change the service, the rules, or shut it down — but we'll give reasonable notice and your source feeds are exportable as OPML at any time.
